Steve Cozart has been an art teacher in the Guilford County Schools since 1995. Born in Durham, North Carolina, Steve attended East Carolina University where he received his B.F.A. in Art Education with a concentration in Printmaking and Drawing. He is currently teaching Honors and Advanced Placement Art Courses at Southern Guilford High School in Greensboro, North Carolina. Steve is also an artist and freelance illustrator, primarily focusing on children’s book illustration.
In 2002, Steve decided to begin focusing on illustration, specifically children’s book illustration. Although Steve is color-blind, he began to investigate ways to use color in his imagery. In 2003, Steve was commissioned to illustrate his first book, “The Giggle Wind”, written by Carol Andrews, a local news anchor.
Since then, Steve has been commissioned on a variety of projects, including spot illustrations and portraiture.
